AUBREY CALAWAY is a performer, writer, and Portland-based comic.

In a desperate bid for relevance, Aubrey often tells jokes about being trans. He/him does stand-up, improv, drag, and comedic monologing.

He founded the near-universally acclaimed (and cancelled) Portland improv troupe Emma Come Back in 2025 after studying under Daniel Karambelas at Maine Improv Studio. He has also performed with MIST and Yes & Co. around Portland.

He wrote, directed, and acted in his original comedy show This Is Improv! at PortFringe 2026, where it won the Patrons’ Choice Award. Aubrey has performed original comedic monologues at Empire Comedy Club, SPACE, Portland Stage, Blue, and Portland Museum of Art. He sometimes does puppetry, drag, and other strange performance art.

Working from his studio in Portland, Maine, Aubrey is often in Texas, New York City, and Los Angeles. He is the host of secret salon.
